What the website stores, what it does not collect and what happens when you contact the project.
Here for Someone is an independently run UK information project. It does not use advertising trackers or visitor analytics.
Who is responsible for your information?
The individual who runs Here for Someone is responsible for how the project uses personal information (the data controller). You can contact them through the contact form.
The crisis-plan tool
Nothing entered into the crisis plan is sent to Here for Someone. The page uses your browser's session storage to keep entries in the current tab, which allows them to survive a refresh. The entries can be removed with the Clear this plan button and will normally be removed when the tab is closed.
Your UK nation choice
The optional UK nation selector in the header keeps your choice in this browser tab using session storage, so other pages can show the relevant urgent-help route. It does not track you, change your actual location, or send the choice to Here for Someone. Choose “All UK nations” to clear it. Always choose the location of the person needing help.
Your relationship choice
The optional relationship choice in the guides also uses session storage. It remembers your choice in this tab; it is not sent to us. Choose “No extra advice” to clear it.
Assessment requests and information-sharing drafts
The assessment request and information-sharing template build their text in your browser. Their entries and generated drafts are not sent to Here for Someone or saved by the tools. Copying, downloading or printing creates a copy that you control. Your browser may restore fields when you return; clear the entries on a shared device.
The contact form
The contact form asks for a message and subject. An email address is optional and is only needed if you would like a reply. Please do not include names, medical records or other identifying information about the person you support.
Netlify processes and stores form submissions so they can be delivered to Here for Someone. Messages are used to review feedback, correct the website and reply when requested. They are not used for marketing or sold. Messages will normally be deleted within 90 days, unless one needs to be kept longer to complete a correction or respond to a legal issue.
Sharing your experience
The Share your experience form collects your contribution, optional label and email, publication permission and, when available, a private removal-code hash. Contributions may contain sensitive mental-health information: we use your explicit consent to read, edit and anonymously publish them, including a short extract in a relevant guide. Netlify stores submissions and processes technical data to deliver the form and filter spam. The hosting section below explains where data may be processed. We do not use contributions or email addresses for marketing.
Netlify submissions and email addresses are deleted on publication or a decision not to use the contribution, and within 90 days otherwise; private originals and working edits are deleted within 90 days of receipt. While a contribution is online we retain the published text, a minimal consent and decision record and its removal-code hash; private records are deleted within 30 days of removal. You can withdraw consent or ask for removal through the contact form, using your removal code or details that help us find your contribution. Without these, we may not be able to identify it. Copies made by other people may remain outside our control.
Website hosting
Netlify hosts the website and may process technical information needed to deliver and protect it, such as request and security logs. Here for Someone does not use this information to build visitor profiles. The website's fonts are stored with the site, so loading a page does not make a font request to Google.
Data needed for website hosting and for both the contact and Share your experience forms may be processed outside the UK. Netlify’s data-processing agreement explains its responsibilities and terms for international transfers.
Links to other organisations
The website links to the NHS, charities, forums and other services. If you follow one of those links, that organisation's own privacy information applies.
Optional contributions through Ko-fi
If you choose to support the project, the payment takes place on Ko-fi rather than on this website. Here for Someone does not receive or store your card details. Ko-fi and its payment provider process the payment under their own privacy terms. Ko-fi requires an email address for a receipt and says that this address is shared with the creator.

Use the contact form on the About page and choose Something else. Include a reply email if you would like a response. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
